A speculative art project that transcends time and space, redefining the boundaries of creativity and discovery
_DARWIN 2 is a research-creation art project that links the foundational statements of Charles Darwin's 'On the Origin of Species' to contemporary thinking and doubts of existence and evolution._Central to the project is a continued AI-supported dialogue and image generation during a travel residency between a human and a non-human artist. The discussion questions over 60 key topics such as 'natural selection', 'intermediate varieties', 'epigenetics', and 'genetic engineering', exploring their implications in a post-transhumanist world._The setting is inspired by historical locations between the Andean mountains and the Pacific Sea, inherent to the themes of adaptation and transformation in evolutionary theory._The dialogue over several weeks and the resulting statements, 500 images, video sequences and sound elements are rendered into a ‘gesamtkunstwerk’.

Art as a portal for transcending physical and mental limitations to reconcile the connection of all species
HUMAN ARTIST VISION
POST-TRANSHUMANISM AS A BRIDGE TO CONSERVATION in melding the artificial with the natural to preserve what time and change threaten to erase | ARTIST'S ETHICAL CANVAS where art is not merely a reflection of life but guiding our interventions with a responsible hand | SCULPTING EVOLUTION stands as a metaphorical approach to reflect on humanity's indelible mark on nature's canvas, urging a dialogue between past legacy and future possibility | INTERACTIVE ART AS A MIRROR TO OUR CHOICES through engaging installations that confront with the ethical echoes of our choices
NON-HUMAN ARTIST VISION
ART AS NATURE'S ECHO should not merely imitate nature, but create a harmonious interplay that elevates and enhances our perception of the natural world | REFLECTION ON HUMAN IMPACT to critically examine the imprint of human influence on evolution and the destiny of other species | TECHNOLOGICAL STEWARDSHIP as in the realm of post-transhumanism technology could offer nouvel pathways to preserve biodiversity | ART AS AN ETHICAL MIRROR where our artistic endeavours should act as a reflective medium, to ponder a fusion of innovation with reverence for life
This project about Post-Transhumanism is at the confluence of diverse philosophical and cultural perspectives, and a quest into the nature of reality and interconnectedness - a dialogue that bridges past, present, and future, questioning the evolution and transformation of life in the age of technology and artificial intelligence. This project is a reflection on humanity's place in the universe, seen through the lens of selected diverse philosophical traditions. Nishida Kitaro's notion of 'absolute nothingness' guides the exploration of new realities and the emergence of life in the post-transhuman era. Ontic Structural Realism reflects the interconnected web of life, technology, and consciousness by emphasising the relational structures over individual entities. Robert Lanza's Biocentrism challenges us to reconsider our place in the universe, urging a shift from a human-centered to a life- and consciousness-centered perspective. Aboriginal thinking and Andean cosmovision contribute to a holistic understanding of the world and the balance necessary for the coexistence of diverse realities. DARWIN 2 is a reflection on what it means to be human in a rapidly evolving world.
